Scale any recipe and switch to metric in one tap
Cooking for two from a recipe that serves eight? Baking a double batch for the bake sale? On any recipe in feedme.recipes, pick ½×, 1×, 2× or 3× and every ingredient amount updates on the page. Switch between the recipe as written, US measurements and metric the same way.
How it works
- Open any recipe in your collection.
- Pick a size: ½×, 1×, 2× or 3×.
- Choose As written, US or Metric.
- The amounts update right away. Your saved recipe is never changed.
| As written | 2× | ½× | Metric |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 ½ cups milk | 3 cups milk | ¾ cup milk | 355 ml milk |
| 8 oz cream cheese | 16 oz cream cheese | 4 oz cream cheese | 225 g cream cheese |
| 1 lb ground beef | 2 lb ground beef | ½ lb ground beef | 455 g ground beef |
| 3 eggs | 6 eggs | 1 ½ eggs | 3 eggs |
Cups and spoons convert to millilitres, and ounces and pounds convert to grams. Amounts the app can’t read, like “a pinch” or “salt to taste”, are left exactly as written.
Good to know when you scale
- Cooking times don’t double when the amounts do. Start checking at the original time and add more as needed.
- A bigger batch may need a bigger pan. Keep the depth about the same so it cooks evenly.
- Half an egg? Beat one egg and use about half of it, roughly 2 tablespoons.
- Add strong spices, salt and chili gradually when you scale up, and taste as you go.
