1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address and password when you register.
- Profile information: Name, profile photo, preferred country, and cooking preferences (all optional).
- Onboarding responses: The goals you select, how often you home-cook, and whether you are registered for a cooking class.
- Content you create: Recipes you add, scan, or import.
- Payment information: For paid subscriptions, your payment details are collected and processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
- Communications: Messages you send us via the contact form or support requests.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: Pages and features you access, searches you perform, recipes you view or save, and videos you mark complete.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and browser type.
- Log data: IP address, access times, and error data when something goes wrong.
- Server storage: We use server storage to maintain your authentication session and to store your app preferences and your recipes.
1.3 Cooking Class and Partner Data
When you connect a cooking class — either through a secure link provided by a cooking-class partner (“Partner”) or by entering a class identifier — we receive and store:
- Class connection data: A class identifier and your enrollment status, provided by the Partner (through a signed link or a class-code lookup).
- Imported class content: The class details (schedule, instructor, location or access method, description) and any recipes the Partner has shared, which we import into your account.
We use this only to deliver the cooking-class features to you. Partner integrations are also governed by our agreement with each Partner.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service: Operate core features, including recipe management.
- AI-powered features: Generate recipe extracts from photos and pasted text.
- Cooking-class features: Connect your class, import class details and recipes, and show your classes and progress.
- Personalize your experience: Use your onboarding responses (goals, cooking frequency) to tailor suggestions and surface relevant features.
- Billing: Manage your free trial and, if you subscribe, process recurring payments through Stripe.
- Communications: Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, security alerts) and respond to your support requests.
- Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and develop new features.
- Safety and compliance: Detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI and Your Data
Feedme.recipes uses a third-party AI model to power recipe extraction and related features.
What data is sent to the AI provider. When you use AI features, we send relevant context to generate accurate responses. This may include your message or prompt, the recipe text or image you are extracting, and your user ID. We do not send your email address, password, or payment information to the AI provider.
AI provider we use.
- Anthropic (Claude models) — for recipe parsing and extraction.
What we do NOT do.
- We do not use your personal data to train third-party AI models. We use API endpoints that do not retain input data for training.
- We do not share your data with the AI provider for advertising purposes.
- AI-assisted content (extracted recipes) is stored in your account and is yours to keep, export, or delete.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
Service providers. We use the following categories of service providers to operate the Service:
- Server hosting and image storage: IONOS
- Database hosting: Neon (managed PostgreSQL)
- Network and DNS: Cloudflare
- Email delivery: Resend (transactional and notification emails)
- Payments: Stripe
- AI provider: Anthropic
- Authentication: Direct (email and password)
Cooking-class partners. When you connect a class, we exchange limited data with the relevant Partner to enable the integration — for example, receiving your enrollment status and class identifier, and confirming that an enrolled Student has connected the class. We do not share your broader account activity or your own recipes with Partners.
Recipes you choose to share. When you share a recipe to the feedme your best library, other members can see your display name, the recipe, its photo and how many members have added it. When you create a share link, anyone with the link can see the recipe and its photo. Nothing else from your account is shown, and your private recipes stay private. You can stop sharing at any time.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business transfers. If Feedme.recipes is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Email Communications
We send the following types of emails:
- Transactional: Account verification, password resets, and security alerts. These cannot be disabled, as they are essential to account security.
Any non-essential email we may send in the future will include an unsubscribe link and comply with applicable email standards.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS)
- Passwords hashed using bcrypt (never stored in plain text)
- Session cookies that are HTTP-only and marked Secure
- Signed, expiring tokens for cooking-class connection links, verified on our servers
- Webhook signatures verified for payment events
- API rate limiting to prevent abuse
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to [email protected].
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal information is deleted within 30 days.
- Error logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.
- Legal holds: Data may be retained beyond standard periods when required for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. You can delete your account from your account settings, or contact us.
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV).
9. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure our service providers maintain appropriate safeguards for data protection.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
